Property Description

Situated within inner London in the Borough of Islington, is Rheidol Mews; a gated and cobbled cul-de-sac approached through an entrance under a building on Rheidol Terrace. The Mews contains 21 properties used for residential and commercial purposes.

The Mews is part of the Duncan Terrace/ Colebrooke Row Conservation Area. When the London Poverty Maps were published, the area was deemed to have a mixture of comfortable and poorer living conditions. A high explosive bomb fell onto Rheidol Terrace in World War II, very close to the Mews.

The two storey properties have plain brickwork facades and hidden roof styles behind parapet walls, surrounded by a cobbled road surface with intact garages.

Everchanging Nature

The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on the surrounding streets but nowadays they are used primarily for residential purposes, though some commercial activity still remains.

Before and since 2003 there have been a few unsuccessful planning applications made for alterations to the properties within the Mews.
