Property Description
Situated to the west of London in Hammersmith and Fulham is Poplar Mews; a gated and cobbled cul-de-sac off Uxbridge Road. The Mews contains about 11 properties used for commercial purposes.
The Mews is not part of a Conservation Area. When the London Poverty Maps were first published, the area was deemed to have a mixture of comfortable and poorer living conditions.
Poplar Mews is made up of two storey, rendered and painted brickwork buildings with pitched roof styles, surrounded by a cobbled road surface and partial-raised pavements. The Mews is situated next to the Shepherds Bush Market Station, with seats and plants.
Everchanging Nature
The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on the surrounding streets and nowadays the properties are still used for commercial purposes.
There have been a number of planning applications made for alterations to the properties within the Mews both before and since 2003, most concerning the change of use from offices to other commercial businesses.
