Property Description
Situated to the north of London in Barnet is Bellevue Mews, a part-cobbled cul-de-sac off Bellevue Road. A small Mews only containing 5 properties, it is used for a mixture of residential and commercial purposes.
In World War II, a high explosive bomb fell onto Coppies Grove, east of the Mews. The Mews is not part of a Conservation Area.
The Mews is made up of two storey, plain and painted brickwork buildings with gable roofs surrounded by a cobbled and tarmacadam road surface. Interestingly, the sign above the Mews has an alternative spelling.
Everchanging Nature
The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on Friern Barnet Road but nowadays they are used for a mixture of residential and commercial purposes.
A few planning applications have been made for alterations before and since 2003, two storey extensions to the main houses which the Mews serve and the change of use of a property to residential.
