Property Description
Situated to the west of London in Hammersmith and Fulham, is Barb Mews; a through road off Shepherds Bush Road, behind and with access to Tesco’s supermarket. The Mews contains 9 properties used for commercial and residential purposes.
The Mews is part of the Brook Green Conservation Area. A few high explosive bombs fell onto Brook Green in World War II, not far from the Mews and when the London Poverty Maps were first published, the area was deemed to have wealthy living conditions with higher than average household earnings.
Barb Mews is made up of two storey, plain or painted brickwork buildings with pitched or flat roof styles, surrounded by a tarmacadam road surface and partial raised pavements. Parking is restricted within the Mews and there are both intact and converted garages present.
Everchanging Nature
The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on Shepherds Bush Road and nowadays the properties are used for a mixture of commercial and residential purposes.
There have been a few planning applications made for alterations to the properties within the Mews both before and since 2003, the most notable being the change of use of some properties from commercial to residential. Conservation Area controls apply to any new developments in the Mews.
