Property Description

Situated to the west of London in Hammersmith and Fulham, is Argon Mews; a cul-de-sac off Fulham Road. The Mews contains about 5 properties used for commercial and residential purposes. It is located on the site of an original Mews but has been re-developed to a degree that it no longer contains any surviving Mews properties.

The Mews is not part of a Conservation Area. A high explosive bomb fell onto Fulham Broadway in World War II, not far from the Mews and when the London Poverty Maps were first published, the area was deemed to have poorer living conditions with lower than average household earnings.

Argon Mews is made up of two storey, rendered or painted brickwork buildings with roofs hidden behind parapet walls, surrounded by a tarmacadam road surface and raised pavements. Parking is restricted within the Mews.

Everchanging Nature

The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on the surrounding streets and nowadays the properties are used for a mixture of commercial and residential purposes.

There have been a few planning applications made for alterations to the properties within the Mews both before and since 2003, the most notable being the demolition or alterations to the buildings fronting or at the rear of the Mews.
