Property Description

Situated to the north-east of London in Hackney, is Lyn Mews (not to be confused with Lyn Mews in Tower Hamlets and Lynn Mews in Waltham Forest); a private, gated and cobbled cul-de-sac approached through an entrance under a building on Paletine Road. The Mews contains 6 properties used for residential purposes. It is located on the site of an original Mews but has been re-developed to a degree that it no longer contains any surviving Mews properties.

Lyn-Mews-HAK

The Mews is not part of a Conservation Area. A number of high explosive bombs fell between Brighton Road and Paletine Road in World War II, very close to the mews and probably affecting the buildings within and when the London Poverty Maps were first published, the area was deemed to have a mixture of comfortable and poorer living conditions with lower than average household earnings.

No details are recorded about the Mews as no access is permitted to the general public.

Everchanging Nature

The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on the surrounding streets but nowadays the properties are predominantly used for residential purposes.
