Property Description

Laverton Place is a through road off Collingham Gardens with access to Hesper Mews and Laverton Mews (both containing original/ surviving Mews properties) in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Laverton Place contains 9 properties, used for residential purposes.

In the past, the area was noted as having a mixture of comfortable living conditions and lower than average household earnings when the London Poverty Maps were first published.

The Mews is part of the ‘Courtfield’ Conservation Area; first designated in 1971 as Collingham Gardens and was subsequently expanded up to 1985. It is an attractive residential enclave surrounded by many major roads, providing a firm boundary to the area meaning further expansion is unlikely. The formal terraces, gardens and wide roads provide an elegant character to the area.

The two, three and four storey properties have rendered or painted brickwork facades with mansard roof styles, surrounded by a tarmacadam road surface. The entrance arch to Laverton Mews off Laverton Place is a grade II Listed Building.

Everchanging Nature

Before and since 2003 there have been many planning applications made for alterations to the properties in the Mews, although most concerning alterations to Collingham Gardens near to the Mews rather than Laverton Place itself. Conservation Area controls apply to any new development in the Mews.
