Property Description

Kramer Mews is a gated, part-cobbled cul-de-sac and pedestrian through road off Kempsford Gardens in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Kramer Mews contains 45 properties, used for residential purposes. It is located on the site of an original Mews but has been re-developed to a degree that it no longer contains any surviving Mews properties.

In the past, the area was noted as having comfortable living conditions and normal household earnings at the time when the London Poverty Maps were first published.

The Mews is not part of a Conservation Area.

The two and three storey properties have rendered or painted brickwork facades with pitched roof styles, surrounded by a cobbled and tarmacadam road surface. There are lots of plants present in the Mews, in addition to partial raised pavements. Most of the buildings are modern built with only a couple original Mews properties remaining.

Everchanging Nature

Originally used as the coach house/ stable accommodation for the main houses on Warwick Road and Kempsford Gardens, the primary purpose of the Mews properties is now residential.

Before and since 2003 there have been a few planning applications made for alterations to the properties in the Mews, most notably an extension at first floor level and the demolition of a garage. The properties were extensively damaged in the war and subsequently replaced with a newer development in 1973.
