Highbury-Terrace-Mews

The Mews is part of the Highbury Fields Conservation Area. When the London Poverty Maps were published, the area was deemed to have comfortable living conditions.

The two and three storey properties have rendered, timber and painted brickwork facades and mansard roof styles, surrounded by a tarmacadam road surface with restricted parking and partial flush pavements.

The 1994 Film ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ used the Mews as a filming location.

Everchanging Nature

The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on Highbury Terrace but nowadays they are used primarily for residential purposes.

Before and since 2003 there have been many planning applications made for alterations to the properties within the Mews, the most notable being; the complete or partial demolition and rebuilding of existing properties.
