Property Description
Folly Mews is a private Mews accessed from 223a Portobello Road in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It contains 2 properties used for commercial purposes and cannot be seen from the outside. It is located on the site of an original Mews but has been re-developed to a degree that it no longer contains any surviving Mews properties.
When the London Poverty Maps were published, the area was noted as having comfortable living conditions with ordinary household salaries.
The Mews is not part of a Conservation Area.
The two storey properties have roofs hidden behind parapet walls and a mixture of plain and painted brickwork facades. Parking is not permitted within the Mews.
Everchanging Nature
Before and since 2003 there are no records of planning applications being made to the properties in the Mews. In the mid-1900’s, the premises was used as a photography studio.
Conservation Area controls now apply to new development in the Mews.
