Property Description
Situated to the west of London in Hounslow is Devonshire Mews; a private through road off Glebe Street. The Mews contains 14 properties used for residential and commercial purposes. It is located on the site of an original Mews but has been re-developed to a degree that it no longer contains any surviving Mews properties.
The Mews is not part of a Conservation Area. A high explosive bomb fell onto Glebe Street in World War II, very close to the Mews.
The two storey properties have plain brickwork facades and pitched roof styles, surrounded by a concrete and tarmacadam road surface with restricted parking.
Everchanging Nature
The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on the surrounding streets but nowadays they are used primarily for residential purposes, though some commercial activity still takes place
There have been a few planning applications made for alterations to the properties within the Mews both before and since 2003, mainly concerning first floor extensions to the properties.
