Property Description
Situated in south-west London in the Borough of Merton, is The Old Stables Yard; a paved cul-de-sac approached through an entrance under a building on South Park Road. The Mews contains a few properties used for residential purposes. It is located on the site of an original Mews but has been re-developed to a degree that it no longer contains any surviving Mews properties.
The Mews is not part of a Conservation Area. A high explosive bomb fell onto South Park Road in World War II.
The one and two storey properties have rendered and brickwork facades and gable and pitched roof styles, surrounded by a paved road surface.
Everchanging Nature
The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on the surrounding streets and nowadays the properties are used primarily for residential purposes. Planning permission was granted in 1997 for the conversion of the properties to office usage and residential flats.
