Property Description

Situated to the west of London in Hammersmith and Fulham is Normand Mews; a gated and cobbled cul-de-sac approached through its own arch off Normand Road. The Mews contains 9 properties used for residential purposes. It is located on the site of an original Mews but has been re-developed to a degree that it no longer contains any surviving Mews properties.

The Mews is part of the Queen’s Club Gardens Conservation Area. When the London Poverty Maps were first published, the area was deemed to have very wealthy living conditions with higher than average household earnings for the time.

Normand Mews is made up of two storey, plain and painted brickwork buildings with gable roof styles, surrounded by a cobbled road surface. World Formula 1 Champion James Hunt lived in Numbers 7 and 8 from 1980-82.

Everchanging Nature

The original purpose of the Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation for the main houses on the surrounding streets but nowadays the properties are used for residential purposes. The properties were rebuilt and altered in the 20th Century.

There have been a number of planning applications made for alterations to the properties within the Mews both before and since 2003, including changes to the fenestration and single storey extensions to a few properties.
