July 2015 – Murray Mews

This months’ featured mews is dedicated to our very own Andy Murray – a previous Wimbledon champion who reached the semi-finals this year. Currently ranked number 3 in the world, Andy Murray started playing tennis at the age of 3 and was playing league tennis by the age of 8. Murray won the 2012 Olympics in London and relieved a silver medal in the mixed doubles with Laura Robson. The following year he became the first British player to win a Wimbledon singles title since Verginia Wade in 1977 and the first British man since Fred Perry, 77 years before.
In 2013 he received an OBE and earlier this year he got married.
Murray Mews in Camden is about a third of the length of Camden Mews – featured last month. The cobbled through road contains 41 properties used for residential and commercial purposes. The mews represents areas of artists and architects studios that became popular in the early 1960s. Find out more information on Murray Mews here.
