Property Description

Hansard Mews is a cobbled through road between Holland Road and Addison Gardens in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. There are 15 properties in the Mews, used for residential and commercial purposes.

When the London Poverty Maps were published, the area was determined as having a mixture of fairly comfortable households with good ordinary earnings to poorer living conditions in comparison.

Hansard Mews is not part of a Conservation Area.

The two storey properties are a mixture of painted and plain brickwork and have roofs hidden behind parapet walls. There are intact and converted garages present, surrounded by a cobbled road surface and partial raised pavements. 1874 is engraved on two of the houses in the Mews. The houses are down one side of the street only, where the other backs onto a railway.

Everchanging Nature

The original purpose of Hansard Mews was to provide stable/ coach house accommodation to the main houses on Holland Road. Now, it is predominantly used for commercial purposes, in the form of offices though some of the properties are residential.

A few planning applications have been made before and since 2003, mainly; the alteration of garage doors and change of use of the properties to residential.
